Accessibility: Delivering the Message on Facebook

Many companies utilize Facebook (FB) as a marketing tool.  Recently FB changed its algorithms.  This has become frustrating for businesses who utilize FB as a deliverable platform. The algorithms have caused decreased visibility when posting business advertisements or responding to customer inquiries. What starts on Facebook affects other social media platforms as well.

“We’ll show less public content, including videos and other posts from publishers or businesses,” said Facebook’s Head of News Feed, Adam Mosseri. This new focus will “make its way through all our products,” said Mark Zuckerberg.

Tip on overcoming the algorithm issue:

It is far easier to Tweet or post a link that is accessible, than to provide a post that is not accessible. The best way to do that is by creating PDF’s and ensuring they are tagged for an assistive reader. Popular programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as many others, can also be made accessible.
